The grand prix tournament set for Third Coast Grappling 6 has just had the full lineup announced as the event comes within a few weeks of being held. The two most recent announcements are the reigning IBJJF no gi World Champion Victor Hugo, and elite American leglock specialist Aaron “Tex” Johnson. All in all the lineup for the grand prix tournament is looking like it’s going to be an exciting night of action, especially as they join the last two men to be revealed for Third Coast Grappling 6, Manuel Ribamar and Pedro Marinho.
These four men rounded out the 8-man bracket, with the first half being revealed in quick succession shortly after the announcement of the grand prix itself. Danaher Death Squad purple belt and ADCC silver medalist Nicky Rodriguez was the first competitor who signed on for the event, although it wasn’t long before he was joined by IBJJF and ADCC World Champion and current favorite to win the grand prix, Kaynan Duarte.
Perhaps the most surprising entrant out of the entire tournament has been the young William Tackett who will be outmatched by both size and experience in the grand prix, although he’s certainly got the capability of pulling off the upset. Submission Underground Absolute Champion Mason Fowler is the remaining man in the running for the prize and he will take to the mats just a week after he defends that title in the headline match of SUG 21.
