Nicky Rodriguez has just been revealed as the first entrant for the upcoming $20,000 eight-man tournament for Third Coast Grappling’s next event, 3CG 6. It’s a big statement of intent for the promotion as they begin to announce the full lineup for the event, an absolute tournament that will likely feature eight of the best grapplers available. It’s understandable that Third Coast Grappling will be going big on this event of course, as it’s set to be their first one away from the subscription model of FloGrappling and sold as a PPV on FITE TV instead.

Given the level of competitors that a $20,000 tournament will likely invite, 3CG 6 represents a fantastic opportunity for Nicky Rodriguez to get some competition practice ahead of his mission to earn double gold at ADCC 2022. It remains to be seen what the full lineup will look like, but the other seven men will be announced by March 1st and it seems likely that there will be a few more ADCC veterans or IBJJF World Champions. The fact that the tournament is being slated as open to all grappling styles will also offer some great practice as ADCC is renowned for inviting MMA fighters or experienced wrestlers to compete as wildcard entrants.
