It looks as though Gordon Ryan is up to his old tricks again, and this time his target is Ronaldo Junior, just a matter of days before the ATOS black belt faces off against Craig Jones at Who’s Number One. While their match will serve as the headliner for the event, Gordon Ryan will also be in attendance after his younger brother Nicky was forced to withdraw from a match against Roberto Jimenez due to an injury. Rather than remove the match from the card altogether, FloGrappling were able to rescue the match by bringing Gordon in as a late replacement and he will now take on Jimenez himself instead.
Gordon Ryan shared a section of an interview he did with FloGrappling, where he referred to Ronaldo Junior as “dumb as a rock with no direction of any kind”. He also gave his said that he believed the headline match of Who’s Number One would be an easy match for Jones and predicted that “If he engages Craig like the rest of his opponents, he will get ended quickly. Zero chance of Ronaldo winning as he doesn’t know how to actually do a submission.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Ryan’s had some choice words to say about Andre Galvao and his team of competitors at ATOS. He even went a little bit further than just words recently after Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa was unable to secure an armbar against Yuri Simoes at BJJ Stars 5. Ryan went so far as to upload a ten minute-long video critiquing Barbosa’s attempt at the event and presenting several different options that he could’ve used instead.
The full Who’s Number One event will be streamed live on FloGrappling on February 26th, click here to subscribe and watch.
