Nicky Ryan has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming match against Roberto Jimenez as a result of a knee injury sustained in training. The match in question was actually one of the most exciting points about the next Who’s Number One event, serving as an amazing build-up to the main event match between his teammate Craig Jones and ATOS representative Ronaldo Junior. While the rest of the card is unaffected, Jimenez will obviously be left without an opponent so the promotion will begin looking for a replacement to compete against him, hoping to keep him on board.
Nicky Ryan announced that he’d been hit by injury during a roll with Danaher Death Squad teammate Nicky Rodriguez about a week ago, and is currently awaiting the results of an MRI to tell him how severe the problem is. He believes that he may have partially torn his LCL and his meniscus but is feeling very confident in his recovery as he’s already starting to feel better just by virtue of resting, so doesn’t think that it’s anything too serious. In an interview with FloGrappling, he said that he believes he should be able to come back to training at some point in March if all goes well. He added that he recognizes that he’s missing out on a huge opportunity by having to withdraw from the Jimenez match, which would’ve been his first match since receiving his black belt from John Danaher.
