The first Who’s Number One event of 2021 is off to a fantastic start already as they’ve just announced the main event, Craig Jones v Ronaldo Junior. The promotion will have to do a lot to top last year however, as they won the title of Fight Card of the Year at our JitsMagazine 2020 BJJ Awards after one of the best cards the grappling circuit has ever seen. The card in question was headlined by two men who won three ADCC gold medals between them in 2019, Gordon Ryan and Matheus Diniz, and featured a number of the sport’s most popular athletes throughout.
Ryan had a number of his Danaher Death Squad teammates join him on that event, including the aforementioned Craig Jones, who took on the young prodigy Roberto Jimenez. Jones came out on the winning end of that fight in the end to finish off a very strong year where he won every match that he booked, except for two against Mason Fowler under Submission Underground rules. Besides this minor slip-up and a pair of defeats against Matheus Diniz, Jones has been pretty much flawless in his performances for quite some time now.
Ronaldo Junior will now be the next person to try and take down Craig Jones in the main event of Who’s Number One on February 26th. He’s been in fine form throughout the last year as well, having won gold medals in several IBJJF events, including both the Pan-Ams, and the no gi Pan-Ams. The rest of the card is yet to be announced of course, but it’s a pretty safe bet that it will feature a number of high-profile grapplers to round out the event.
