The Who’s Number One welterweight title will now be on the line in a fantastic 4-man tournament at WNO: Night of Champions on October 1st, 2023. It’s not the only tournament scheduled for that event either, as the promotion has also put together an equally impressive 4-man bracket for the featherweight title too. The whole event is stacked in fact, as Who’s Number One have managed to book several of their existing champions to defend their titles as well. Gordon Ryan returns to competition in the main event to defend his title against Patrick Gaudio, while the co-main will see Pedro Marinho defend his title against Rafael Lovato Jr.
Along with these two title-fights in the heaviest divisions, there are also a pair of titles on the line in the women’s divisions too. Rafaela Guedes is defending her belt against Nathiely De Jesus, and the vacant featherweight belt is up for grabs for the winner of Brianna Ste-Marie v Elisabeth Clay. It’s going to be tough for anyone to pick out the matches they’re most looking forward to at WNO: Night of Champions, but this welterweight tournament is definitely going to be high up there.
Mica Galvao stands out as the early favorite in the tournament, but things definitely won’t be easy for him. He’s got a pair of fellow ADCC veterans standing opposite him, PJ Barch and Jacob Rodriguez, both of whom are more than capable of beating him. Andrew Tackett is the man who completes the tournament lineup and although he might be considered an underdog here, he’s beaten plenty of fantastic competitors before and this may very well be his moment to shine. It’s tough to predict the winner but one thing is for certain, there’s going to be plenty of action from start to finish.
