Submission Underground 23 is set to take place later this month and the promotion has just announced the full card for their latest event. The reigning SUG Absolute World Champion Mason Fowler will be returning once again to defend his title against one of the most exciting grapplers to come out of 10th Planet in recent times, Kyle Chambers. This comes less than a month after Fowler’s last successful title-defense against Andy Varela, where he managed to secure the victory during the first round of EBI overtime.
The co-main event will see yet another Tag-Team Jiu-Jitsu match after the format returned for the first time in quite a while at Submission Underground 21. The chaos that ensues whenever Tag-Team Jiu-Jitsu takes place is evident from the fact that there have only been two matches since that reintroduction and the Tag-Team championship has changed hands already. Originally, the title was claimed by Ricky Simon and John Simon who represented American Top Team before they lost their very next match to Chris Lencioni and Owen Papworth of Team SAC.
Further down the card, Richie ‘Boogieman’ Martinez will be making yet another appearance in the Submission Underground cage in a match that he’s favorite to win against Don Stoner. Sticking true to SUG style, there will also be a grappling clash between two UFC veterans as Carlos Condit will meet Jake Ellenberger just before the Tag-Team co-main event. Gillian Robertson and Andy Varela will then round out the main card as they take on Raquel Canuto and Joel McKay respectively.
