Elite BJJ competitor Jena Bishop will now be making her PFL debut in the women’s flyweight division on the main card of PFL 1 on April 5th, 2024. Bishop isn’t just a fantastic grappler, she’s actually reached the very highest level of the sport by winning an IBJJF No Gi World Championship back in 2017 and ADCC Trials in 2019. Although she didn’t add an ADCC title to her collection when she made an appearance in 2019, she is still one of the top American competitors and she holds wins over some of the biggest names in the sport like Gabrielle McComb and Luiza Monteiro.
After achieving such impressive levels of success in professional grappling, Bishop decided to make the transition to professional MMA and made her debut at LFA 116 in 2021. She won that fight by submission in impressive fashion stayed on the regional MMA circuit for the next 3 fights of her career, winning a pair of decisions before getting another submission win. That’s when Bishop was signed to Bellator, making her promotional debut at Bellator 291 where she won by decision after putting on a flawless display and taking all three rounds cleanly.
Her final appearance for that promotion was at Bellator 300 at the end of 2023, where she locked up the third first-round submission win of her career against Ilara Joanne. Jena Bishop now comes into her PFL debut with a perfect 6-0 professional record and her opponent at PFL 1 will be Chelsea Hackett, who currently holds a respectable 4-1-1 record herself. Hackett is a tough opponent who will undoubtedly put on a great fight, but Bishop will be the favorite and should be able to extend her fantastic run even further.
