Jena Bishop just put on a fantastic performance in her promotional debut against Chelsea Hackett at PFL 1 on April 4th, 2024, locking up a beautiful armbar in the very first round. It wasn’t too much of a surprise considering that Bishop is an incredible grappler who has already won an IBJJF No Gi World Championship, and she was undefeated in her MMA career so far. Hackett was coming into the fight with a 3-1-1 professional MMA record but she had already won in her PFL debut, so she was a great choice of opponent for Bishop in her first fight for the promotion.
Bishop quickly racked up 4 wins on the regional MMA circuit to start her career and she put on a dominant performance in her Bellator debut after that. She won her next fight at Bellator 300 before the merger between them and PFL happened and she was brought over to to compete under a new banner with a 6-0 professional record. It didn’t take long for her to catch Hackett with an armbar and although Hackett lifted her off the ground and slammed her, she still got the tap regardless. There were another two first-round finishes in the women’s flyweight division at PFL 1 so Bishop shot to the top of the season’s standings, on equal footing with Dakota Ditcheva and Taila Santos.
