Gabi Garcia sat down to do her post-match interview after coming out on the losing end of a Unanimous Decision against Nathiely De Jesus at the latest Who’s Number One event, she decided to use the moment to call out Gordon Ryan. Although Garcia spent a decent amount of time focusing on her fledgeling MMA career and competed in BJJ less often than earlier in her life, she has still kept active in the sport and never misses a chance to compete at the ADCC World Championships, racking up her fourth gold medal in 2019.

Her most recent rubber match against De Jesus was very close despite her not managing to emerge victorious from it and before that, Garcia fought against one of the most prolific female competitors in the sport at BJJ Stars 4, Claudia Do Val, and defeated her on points. It was a shock that Garcia was defeated by De Jesus but it’s likely that this is only a stumble in the road of her career, as she routinely dominates the women she faces on the mats. As a result, it’s not hard to make the case that Garcia could be one of the few people capable of really putting on a show against the greatest no gi grappler on the planet right now.

The biggest news that came out of the recent Who’s Number One event was of course, the clash between Gordon Ryan and Andre Galvao that resulted in the latter getting slapped, and Gabi Garcia was seen in the released footage attempting to calm Galvao down. The interview itself was taken after Garcia’s match and was shared onto FloGrappling’s official Instagram account. While the match is clearly incredibly unlikely, it’s hard to argue that it wouldn’t draw a ridiculous amount of attention. Considering Garcia is incredibly dominant under the ADCC ruleset and Galvao may not be coming back in 2022 to defend his Superfight Championship, maybe this could be where the opportunity lies to have her face Ryan?
