Finishers 20: Money In The Bank 2 was an excellent event staged by Finishers Sub-Only, featuring several fun superfights and two excellent round-robin tournaments. It was a unique format that saw 4 grapplers in each weightclass battle it out against one another in consecutive matches in order to earn a shot at the promotion’s champions. Both Luke Shiomos and Enrique Galarza put in dominant performances in the men’s 185lbs division, leading into an excellent final match between the two of them that Galarza won in impressive fashion. Galarza was coming in off another tournament win at SOGI Pro: Cinco de Mayo earlier in the month, so it’s no surprise that he performed so well.
The men’s 185lbs division’s reigning champion is Sean Yadimarco and although Galarza won that division, he’s also happy to challenge for the 170lbs title too. There was another round-robin tournament in the women’s 125lbs division and it was easy to overlook Laylah Watkins coming into the event seeing as she’s still so young, but she put on an absolutely flawless performance once she stepped on the mats. She submitted all three of her opponents in less than five minutes in total, utterly dominating the opposition and booking her place in a title-fight. That division’s champion is Alex Enriquez, who put on an equally impressive performance back at Finishers 18 to win the title.
The superfights in between these matches were equally exciting, with Dylan Brown and Efrain Garcia generating one of the best matches of the night. Both men went at a very fast pace right up until Brown hit a beautiful back-take and finished Garcia with a rear-naked choke. Nikki Heuer really impressed in her superfight too, registering the quickest finish of the day by locking up a heel hook in just a few seconds. John Vena and Grant Kircher put on a great match with some back-and-forth action too, with both men throwing caution to the wind on multiple occasions until Vena managed to finish his opponent with a kneebar.
