Finishers Kombat 4 took place on February 26th, 2023 and the promotion managed to put together two excellent superfights as the main attraction. As always, it was a night full of high level grappling and there was dozens of matches throughout the card that featured many of the best up-and-coming grapplers in the area. As the night wore on the experience level of those competing gradually increased, right up until the final two fights. These two matches had Finishers titles on the line, with Trinity Pun moving up in weight to challenge Vannessa Griffin for the lightweight title shortly before Sean Yadimarco and Kemoy Anderson fought to unify the promotion’s middleweight title.
Pun is already the promotion’s reigning champion at 145lbs and she’s one of the most talented young prospects in the sport right now, so Griffin was always going to have her hands full here. Griffin is an IBJJF Pan Champion though, so it’s not as if she hasn’t faced difficult opponents in the past. It was a tough match in the end and neither woman was able to secure the finish within regulation time, so the match moved to EBI overtime to determine the winner. After three rounds of EBI overtime Griffin was able to fend off Pun and retain her title, with both women looking like they will continue being top competitors in the years to come.
In the main event of Finishers Kombat 4, the reigning middleweight champion Sean Yadimarco was challenged by the interim champion Kemoy Anderson. Yadimarco has more experience fighting on the big stages like Who’s Number One, and that difference was clear once the match started. He controlled Anderson and maintained top position for virtually the entire match but wasn’t able to secure the finish, as this match also went to EBI overtime. Yadimarco kept up his positional dominance throughout the overtime rounds as well, and was declared the winner due to ride-time.
