This match served as the main event of M-16 Open 10 and treated the fans in attendance to an incredibly close fight between two of Australia’s top competitors. Declan Moody has been working hard for years to establish himself as one of the country’s best grapplers and has been a top prospect during his journey through the coloured belt ranks. He’s following in the footsteps of Australia’s most famous product, Craig Jones, in steadily building his success in his home-country before he breaks out on to the international stage.
Daniel Schuardt on the other hand has been developing around the same time as Moody, and also represents one of the most talented grapplers in Australia. He was promoted to black belt by Lachlan Giles alongside his teammate Jeremy Skinner, and he hasn’t looked back since. Both men are veteran competitors and coaches, so a match between them was bound to produce high-level fireworks. It didn’t disappoint either, as both men put absolute everything on the line and neither one of them gave up a single point or position. They fought hard to win every scramble and they were both determined to win, putting on one of the closest matches you could ever see and making the judge’s lives incredibly difficult.
