Former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight World Champion BJ Penn has been arrested yet again this past weekend at around 5pm on Saturday in Honolulu, Hawaii, on suspicion of DUI. The story was initially reported on by Hawaii News Now and they reported that local police officers responded to a call from a private business in Honoka’a. The officers who arrived on the scene learned that Penn was at the business earlier in the day in a gray Toyota pickup truck. They reported that the MMA veteran was seen talking loudly towards employees before driving off in a “reckless manner.”
It was during the time that the police were talking to the business’ employees that Penn then returned and police noted that he showed signs of visible impairment which contributed toward the suspicion that he might be driving under the influence. The source of the disagreement between Penn and the business owners isn’t fully known yet although footage that was obtained by MMANYTT and posted on their official YouTube channel does show that the argument clearly got quite heated and Penn was pretty aggressive by the time of his arrest.
This actually marks the second time that BJ Penn has been investigated on suspicion of DUI within the last year, and is just the most recent in a long line of run-ins with the law around the state of Hawaii. Penn has also been involved in a number of incidents of assault involving both members of the public and bouncers employed by local bars. Not only this, but Penn had a paternity lawsuit filed against him recently by the mother of his most recent child, Camila Amado.
