BJJ Stars 4 is set for November 14th and the promotion have finally announced the full lineup for their Middleweight Grand Prix and the tournament looks fantastic. While the tournament is the main attraction for the Brazilian promotion’s fourth event, they’ve also arranged for several superfights to allow the grand prix competitors rest between rounds. The first to be announced was one between two elite female competitors, Gabi Garcia and Claudia Do Val.
That’s not the only elite-level female superfight booked for the event as a Thamara Ferreira and Beatriz Mesquita have agreed to meet, along with a Heavyweight matchup between Victor Hugo and Erich Munis. Romulo Barral is also making one of a number of appearances in recent months, as he takes on Sergio Moraes. Devhonte Johnson is also set to make the journey from America to fight against Patrick Gaudio and the card is rounded out by Amanda Monteiro and Anna Rodrigues.
The Middleweight Grand Prix features several more IBJJF World Champions including multiple-time winners, Leandro Lo and Otavio De Sousa. There will also be two members of the 2018 class of IBJJF World Champions attending as both Isaque Bahiense and Gustavo Batista will be competing for the grand prize. Although he’s yet to claim the highest honor on the IBJJF circuit, Matheus Diniz is one of the favorites to take home gold in the Middleweight Grand Prix as he is the current ADCC World Champion and ranked second in the pound-for-pound rankings.
Although he’s the youngest competitor in the field and the one with the least accolades, Roberto Jimenez also stands a strong chance of winning as he’s already proven himself a formidable grappler by winning several Third Coast Grappling Kumite events. Next up is an IBJJF no gi World Champion in and two-time Kasai Grand Prix Champion, Renato Canuto. He’s joined by the completely unrelated Jaime Canuto, who may not have won a world championship himself, but has earned a podium placement on five occasions after winning the tournament at brown belt.
BJJ Stars 4 will be available to watch on their website as a Pay-Per-View event, click here to find out more.
