BJJ Stars has just added another elite matchup to their fourth event as Romulo Barral is ramping up his appearances on the competitive circuit, this time against Serginho Moraes. Barral has spent some time away over the last few years focusing on teaching at Gracie Barra Northridge instead of competing as often as the decade before that. That is, until his recent appearance at Fight 2 Win 150 which seemed to be just the start of his return to regular competition, if his recent booking at BJJ Stars 4 is anything to go by.
Barral had a rough return against Tanner Rice in a back-and-forth match on the F2W mats which he would eventually win by split decision. In his BJJ Stars 4 superfight, he faces a more accomplished grappler in Moraes who is a multiple-time IBJJF World Champion although is at least a lot closer in age to the 38 year-old Romulo Barral. The pair join a card that already seems stacked with talent, including a rare grappling appearance by Gabi Garcia who is set to meet Claudia Do Val in a clash between two of the best female grapplers around.
The promotion has also started to release some of the competitors for the main event, their Middleweight Grand Prix, on their official Instagram. So far, only three out of an eventual eight athletes have been revealed but the lineup already looks phenomenal as it includes one of GF Team’s slickest grapplers in Jaime Canuto and a pair of IBJJF World Champions, Isaque Bahiense and Gustavo Batista.
The BJJ Stars IV: GP Middleweight tournament will take place on Saturday, November 14 at 6 pm EST.
