Battle of the Promotions Quintet took place on January 27th, 2024 and it featured four of the most popular professional grappling promotions in North America sending 5-man teams to face one another. Each team was made up of competitors who had previously made appearances for the respective promotions and given the history that they each have, there was some incredible lineups at the event. Two of the oldest promotions had incredible captains, with Ethan Crelinsten leading Team Finishers Sub-Only and Max Hanson taking charge of Team Sapateiro.
The other two teams were just as impressive too, as Team Enigma was led by Deandre Corbe and Team Midwest Finishers featured ADCC legend Paul Ardila. It was clear that this was going to be an exciting event from the start and with so many elite grapplers on different teams, there was going to be some close matches too. It turned out to be incredibly close right from the first semi-final though, with nothing separating the Enigma Jiu-Jitsu and Finishers Sub-Only teams after all 5 matches. Reese LaFever saved the day for Team Enigma when he was selected for the deciding EBI overtime round, as he submitted Rene Sousa to put them into the final.
The second semi-final was a much cleaner victory though, with the Sapateiro team managing to beat the Midwest Finishers team by 2 submissions to none. They owe that win to one person though, as Andre Porfirio put on an electrifying performance and submitted both Ernesto Rivera and David Stoilescu with straight ankle-locks. The final was another close match though, with all 5 matches ending in a draw once again. Team Enigma selected Abraham La Montagne for the EBI overtime round this time and he faced John Combs, beating him by ride-time to secure the win and $15,000 for his teammates.
