The next Who’s Number One (WNO) event set for November 11th has undergone some last-minute changes to the lineup and the promotion will now be having their very first women’s headline match as a result. The event was previously due to feature Giancarlo Bodoni challenging Pedro Marinho for the WNO Light-Heavyweight world title as the main event, but unfortunately this bout has had to be removed from the card entirely due to injury. This has led to a match between ADCC silver medallist Brianna Ste-Marie and multiple-time IBJJF gi and no gi world champion Mayssa Bastos being elevated to headline status.
That’s not the only change though, as B-Team’s Izaak Michell was also forced to withdraw from his co-main event match against Bruno Matias. Fortunately for the minds behind Who’s Number One, the promotion has managed to find a late replacement for Michell in the form of Pedigo Submission Fighting’s Jacob ‘The Hillbilly Hammer’ Couch. The rest of the card has remained untouched and it does look to be one of the best professional grappling fight cards in recent memory.
There are a total of seven veterans of ADCC 2022 outside of the main event, with Cole Abate v Josh Cisneros and Ethan Crelinsten v Fabricio Andrey featuring four athletes who competed in the 66kg division. Haisam Rida will be taking on New Wave Jiu-Jitsu’s Luke Griffith after they competed at over and under 99kg respectively, while Andy Varela will be returning after his attempt to win the 77kg division in order to take on one of B-Team’s most exciting young prospects, Jozef Chen.
