Things are already starting to heat up ahead of Polaris Squads 3, the event that will see team USA make their debut in the promotion’s version of team grappling. Previously, Polaris has only featured Team Europe and Team UK and Ireland but they will now be bringing in an entirely new nationality of fighters to take on the winning team from their very first event. The rules have not been changed from the very start of Polaris Squads and will see two teams of eight grapplers competing over two forty-minute periods to determine the best team.
The captain for Team UK and Ireland has been revealed as the same man who brought the team to victory the first time round, Irish BJJ legend Darragh O’Connail. He will be coming up against a legend in his own right, two-time ADCC World Champion and IBJJF no gi World Champion JT Torres. Already the lineup for Team USA looks very promising and it’ll be interesting to see how things shake up once both of the teams have been announced in full.
The full play-by-play and live results for the first Polaris Squads can be found here, along with the full play-by-play and live results for the second Polaris Squads event here. Rest assured, we’ll be on hand again to provide the same for Polaris Squads 3.
Polaris Squads 3 featuring Team USA v Team UK & Ireland will be streamed live on 17th July on UFC FightPass, click here to subscribe and watch.
