Talita Alencar has just been booked to make her UFC debut against Rayanne Dos Santos at UFC on ESPN+ 91 on December 9th, 2023 and the elite BJJ competitor will be looking to make a big impact in her big break. Alencar won an IBJJF World Championship back in 2017 and although she was a fantastic gi competitor, her biggest achievements actually came at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship. She stood on top of the podium at that tournament on two different occasions in 2016 and 2017 before she decided to embark on an MMA career, and once more again in 2021 after she already made her professional debut.
Alencar managed to submit all of her first three opponents while she was competing on the regional MMA circuit for Titan FC, before moving on to compete for LFA. She won her only fight in the LFA cage by unanimous decision and that earned her the biggest chance of her career so far, as she was given an opportunity to fight for a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series. Alencar had a very tough fight against Stephanie Luciano that actually ended in a unanimous draw and although Luciano earned a UFC contract with the performance, Alencar unfortunately did not.
Now it seems as though the UFC have decided to give Talita Alencar a chance regardless, although she’s got another tough opponent for her promotional debut. Rayanne Dos Santos recently became the Invicta FC atomweight champion by beating Jillian DeCoursey and she’s amassed a 14-6 professional MMA record over the last 8 years. Dos Santos will definitely be a tough opponent for Alencar and as she’s also known for finishing her fights by submission, there’s a good chance that fans will get to see plenty of grappling in this fight. This bodes well for Alencar, as she’s easily one of the best grapplers in the planet at her weight.
