Talita Alencar is only a matter of weeks away from making the transition to MMA as the three-time IBJJF World Champion is scheduled to fight at Titan FC 70 on July 2nd. She is a phenomenal talent and will almost automatically be a top contender in the promotion by virtue of her achievements in grappling to date. Alencar is an incredibly talented grappler and she has actually achieved more success out of the gi as opposed to in it, she has won two of her IBJJF World Championships in the no gi edition and has also won both an IBJJF no gi Pan-Ams and no gi European championship as well.
Not just this, but Alencar is no stranger to the professional grappling circuit either as she is a Fight 2 Win veteran and the current reigning 125lbs no gi champion for the promotion. She’s fended off some stiff competition since becoming champion, including defeating a veteran competitor in Heather Raftery at F2W 153, and having a fight of the night matchup against Gabrielle McComb back at F2W 162. Realistically, expectations are incredibly high for Talita Alencar and her MMA career, especially considering the level of opponent she’s starting out against.
Alencar will be fighting against Staci Vega, who holds a 0-1-1 record and only turned professional after amassing a 0-6 amateur record to begin with. This wouldn’t be the first time that an elite grappler has been given a favorable matchup in the hopes of putting on a highlight-reel display for Titan FC as undefeated Olympic Judoka Kayla Harrison was previously matched up against 33 year-old Jozette Cotton at Titan FC 66, who hadn’t fought since getting outmatched and finished by Harrison in their previous fight.
