Submission Hunter Pro 90 is scheduled for April 28th, 2024 and the promotion has put together a great 8-man tournament with a grand prize of $5,000 on the line. It’s a decent purse for the eventual winner so naturally there is quite a few elite competitors who’ve been attracted by the prospect of winning it. There isn’t a single clear favorite either, as there’s multiple grapplers who could walk away with the title at the end of the evening. There’s going to be plenty of exciting matches once the bracket starts to unfold and there’s even some interesting battles lined up for the very first round as well.
Perhaps the most interesting opening round match is between Jordan Holy and Carlos Henrique, two veterans of the professional competition circuit who are both known for having entertaining styles. The other matchup happening on their side of the bracket also features a very successful competitor, as Gavin Corbe is coming in fresh off winning a bronze medal at ADCC North American West Coast Trials 2024. There’s no guarantee that Corbe will be the man making it through to face the winner of Holy vs Henrique though, because he has a tough opening round match against Joshua Leonard first.
ADCC veteran Oliver Taza is making an appearance on the opposite side of the bracket and he will be facing off against Jeremy Owens in what should be a very entertaining matchup. The final opening round match of the Submission Hunter Pro 90 lineup is between Matheus Chedid and Nick Mataya, and the winner of that will then cross paths with the winner of Taza vs Owens in the semi-final. Anything can happen once these competitors take to the mats and the only real guarantee here is that there will be plenty of high-level grappling on display as the tournament unfolds.
