Who’s Number One (WNO) consistently delivers some of the best grappling action possible and after several matchups have just been announced for the next event, it’s clear that the promotion has no intention of ever slowing down. Perhaps the most exciting one features the return of the worm-guard king, Keenan Cornelius, who will be facing off against an elite competitor who seems to be flying under the radar for no discernible reason, Haisam Rida.
This represents a phenomenal opportunity for Rida, a grappler who is criminally underrated and is in need of one big signature win in order to propel himself to the forefront of the sport. Alongside that there’s a little bit of history behind the match too, as Rida actually defeated one of Cornelius’ top students and training partner Sloan Clymer by decision back at his last appearance on Who’s Number One. Fan-favorite Andrew Wiltse will also be stepping onto the mats to take on Gabriel Almeida, who will no doubt be eager to come away with the win after coming up short the last time he fought a newer black belt, losing a decision to Nicky Ryan at the last WNO.
The full card of matchups have yet to be announced for this month’s WNO event, but there is at least one women’s match due to take place as Silver Fox black belt Danielle Kelly takes on Jessica Crane. The event will also feature Mikey Musumeci once again as the veteran American black belt appears to be making good on his promise to make the most of opportunities to develop his leglock game. After submitting Lucas Pinheiro with a quick heelhook in the last event, he now takes on one of the most unpredictable leglockers in the sport right now, Edwin ‘Junny’ Ocasio.
