The latest Who’s Number One event was headlined by a fantastic clash between two MMA stars in Rafael Lovato Jr and Gilbert Burns. The former having climbed to the very top of the mountain at Bellator as their Middleweight World Champion and the latter fell just one fight short after losing his UFC Welterweight title shot against Kamaru Usman just a matter of months ago. In the end, the match between the pair was every bit as exciting as was promised with Burns staying on top and working to pass before managing to expose Lovato Jr’s back right at the end. That proved to be enough for Burns to get the Unanimous Decision victory in the main event.
The previous match featured Tye Ruotolo taking a unanimous decision win over his late-notice replacement opponent William Tackett, after Craig Jones was forced to withdraw thanks to an adverse reaction to the Coronavirus vaccine. Just before that, Nicky Ryan and PJ Barch put on the best fight of the night with relentless pace from start to finish and flowing effortlessly between every single area of grappling, from wrestling, to guard-passing, to leglocks. Grace Gundrum, Kade Ruotolo and the always-exciting Haisam Rida also managed to get their names in the win-column during the build-up to the main event.
