Gordon Ryan has been embroiled in a lengthy rivalry with Andre Galvao and it seems like the ATOS founder is willing to give as good as he gets lately. The pair have been slated to compete against each other at the ADCC World Championships 2022 where Galvao would seek to defend his superfight championship for the fifth consecutive time against the reigning double champion Ryan, although the promotion has been unable to guarantee that Galvao will be competing at the event. This uncertainty has lead to the athletic rivalry between the two elite grapplers spilling over into social media, as Ryan attempts to ensure he gets the chance to dethrone Galvao.

Now, after a pretty long time of both he and his entire team being on the receiving end of the social media storm, Andre Galvao appears to be hitting back at Gordon Ryan in a recent video interview he posted on his official Instagram account, one that seems to have irked Ryan and prompted an immediate response from him:

In it, Galvao proclaims Ryan to be “a coward” and is completely confident that he “would kick his ass beautifully”. It’s worth noting however that Galvao still isn’t going to fully commit to the match itself, as he mentions in the interview that it’ll only be going ahead if ADCC pay him the amount he’s asking for. This came only a matter of days after he challenged one of Galvao’s proteges, Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa, to an armbar demonstration contest. While his challenge was ignored, Barbosa competed at BJJ Stars 5 and Ryan used a failed armbar attempt in one of his matches as ammunition and an opportunity to demonstrate several different ways he could’ve finished the technique successfully.
