Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida is finally about to make his MMA debut for Asia’s premier organization, ONE FC, in September. This marks the third time that the promotion has attempted to book his professional debut, dating all the way back to February when he was booked against undefeated Senegalese wrestling champion Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of weeks before the fight was scheduled that Buchecha was forced to withdraw after suffering a knee injury in training that sidelined him for the foreseeable future.
His debut was rebooked at that point against another undefeated fighter, the Korean Ji Won-Kang who was already successful on the ONE FC stage earlier in the year. He again suffered an injury in training and had to be replaced on the card, although this time the exact nature of the injury went undisclosed. Buchecha has still been busy however, as he’s recently been campaigning for an MMA fight against Gordon Ryan after the ADCC double champion announced that he had signed a contract with ONE FC for grappling and MMA.
Now it seems as though things have calmed down in the Buchecha’s world and ONE FC have decided to take the plunge once more by matching him up with Thomas Narmo on a fight card scheduled for September 24th. Coincidentally, Narmo is also undefeated and owns a 4-0 (1) professional MMA record, with his ONE FC debut ending in a no contest earlier this year. The rest of the main card has yet to be announced but it’s certain that this fight will be relatively high up on the billing.
