Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida has finally had his MMA debut set in stone as he will now take on Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane under the ONE FC banner. Almeida is the single most successful IBJJF World Champion organization’s history and a two-time ADCC World Champion but hasn’t managed to compete at all this year due to suffering a knee injury in August that delayed his MMA debut significantly. That same knee injury also scuppered his only chance to compete on the grappling circuit this year too, forcing him to withdraw from a match against Fabricio Werdum at BJJ Bet.
Almeida’s opponent for his first MMA fight is one hell of a scary man though, as he takes on Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane on 24th February, 2021. Kane is an absolute powerhouse and an undefeated champion of Senagalese Wrestling who cuts an incredibly intimidating figure at 6″5′ and 265lbs. He’s only competed in professional MMA once so far, against Soufiane Boukichou all the way back in December 2019 for a relatively minor promotion, Ares FC.
Kane’s victory went viral back then however when he showed the amazing power he possesses in his second-round knockout. His striking didn’t look particularly developed at all but he showed his wrestling expertise all throughout the fight by repeatedly slamming Boukichou to the mat, including at one point in the first round when his opponent attempted a Kimura from half-guard and was punished heavily for it. Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida will certainly have his work cut out for him in his first MMA fight and fans will likely be in for some high-level grappling as the BJJ star takes on the champion wrestler.
