Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida has just announced that the documentary about his life has now been released and is free to watch on YouTube. The trailer for the film was released previously and it received pretty positive feedback all around, but now it’s received it’s first official screening and those who’ve seen it have reported back good things. The film was created by several major organizations like FloGrappling and the IBJJF working together, and as a result they arranged for a premiere at Jiu-Jitsu Con 2023. Almeida actually announced the completion of the premiere himself and that the film would now be available to watch for free:
“Guys, finally the time has arrived! It’s happening now, the last premiere at IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con in Las Vegas! So, since now you guys can watch on my YouTube official channel and watch the movie. As I spoke before, it was our gift, from me, Ana Colagrande, Bruno Lemos, from Lemos Images and Triangulo Filmes, with IBJJF, FloGrappling. We made this project, it was really hard work but we decided to give it to you guys. It’s live on YouTube, free access, everybody can watch! So call everybody, call your family, gather everybody, show it to your friends, give us feedback, it will be very important to us. Thank you very, very much, I hope you guys enjoy it! Thank you!”
The film has had great reviews so far and Almeida wanted to thank one person in particular who didn’t have a hand in creating the movie, but did have a huge hand in creating his career. Surprisingly this wasn’t any particular coach or training partner, but it was actually one of his rivals throughout his time on the mats:
“It’s hard to talk about my career without mentioning this rivalry against Rodolfo Vieira. In the movie I tell how he helped me to become the athlete I am today. Thank you so much for encouraging me to train the way I trained for these fights and thank you for continuing to inspire us all in your MMA career.”
