This article is part of our Craig Jones Invitational 2024 coverage. To get live results, play by play, and commentary, we’ll have a live updates article running all weekend.

The lineup for the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational is nearing completion and Kyle Boehm has become one of the final entrants in the over 80kg division after rejecting his initial invite to ADCC 2024. It’s another shot fired by the new promotion, as Craig Jones has continued securing the services of ADCC competitors long after the tournament was first announced. It’s not surprising that he’s been able to do so though, as Jones is able to offer them more money just to compete than they can possibly win at ADCC and a grand prize of a million dollars as well.

Boehm is one of the top 10th Planet competitors in the world and he’s represented the affiliation at the highest levels of the sport for several years now. He actually has some history with Jones himself too, as he made his ADCC debut back at ADCC 2022 and came up against him in the second round. Although Boehm looked great at first but he was caught in a guillotine by Jones and didn’t make it on to the second day. He faced Jones once again in 2023, although under slightly different rules this time as they were on opposite sides of Quintet 4 and the match ended in a draw.

Boehm attempted to earn his return to ADCC earlier this year at ADCC Trials and he finished with a bronze medal in the under 99kg division. Despite not coming away with the automatic invite he impressed the matchmakers behind ADCC along the way and was invited to compete at ADCC 2024 recently anyway. Now he has decided to share the mats with Jones once again, although this time he will be a part of the event that Jones is creating. Boehm joins a stacked lineup in the over 80kg division of the Craig Jones Invitational with several of the best grapplers in the world, and he will have plenty of tough matches waiting for him.

The Craig Jones Invitational announced the news that Kyle Boehm had withdrawn from ADCC 2024 to compete at their event in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
