High Rollerz is one of the most unique and popular BJJ promotions out there, and now they’re moving into the world of wrestling as well. They’re gearing up for their twenty-third event relatively soon, but a few days before that takes place they will be staging their very first wrestling tournament as well. The tournament is open for anyone to register and will take place across January 21st and 22nd in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the finals serving as the preliminary matches for High Rollerz 23.
The promotion is definitely best known for being strong advocates of recreational marijuana use, and for mixing that in with professional grappling events. One of the things they do best is to actually create a theme around each of their events and then using that as the driving force behind their promotional work. A great example of this was one of their first few events, where they put together a card of matches that were all ‘Cops v Stoners’ and used that as the stage to set a friendly rivalry throughout the night. What High Rollerz may lack in terms of elite competition, they more than make up for in ingenuity and uniqueness.
Each one of their events are incredibly fun for the fans in attendance and they’ve even attracted the support of high-profile celebrities in the past, like Mike Tyson and Wiz Khalifa. Going to see a High Rollerz event in person, there’s even the potential for fans to bump into some of these big names. UFC world champion Aljamain Sterling recently went out to see one of their events, and he was even convinced to jump into the cage for a quick match as well. It’s difficult to imagine how well a wrestling event would fit in with the traditional High Rollerz style but one thing is for sure, it’s going to be a lot of fun finding out.
The news that High Rollerz were going to stage their very first wrestling tournament was announced in a post to the promotion’s official Instagram account:
