Gordon Ryan will now be making a guest appearance at the ADCC Orange County Open on April 29th, 2023 in Costa Mesa, California. He’s made no announcement of if he intends to compete in any kind of superfight at the event, although that’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility. While Ryan is obviously usually seen at the absolute highest levels of BJJ competition, he has competed at smaller events like Grappling Industries in the past.
As it stands though, the only thing that Gordon Ryan has confirmed is that he’ll be appearing at the upcoming ADCC Open tournament in order to meet fans at the Future Kimonos booth at the tournament venue. So while fans buying tickets to attend the tournament may not be able to see Ryan in action, they’ll at least be able to meet him and take pictures with him. This is actually something that Ryan is known for putting a lot of time into, as he met hundreds of fans at ADCC 2022 in between the time he spent on the mats winning the over 99kg division and dethroning Andre Galvao as the superfight champion.
Gordon Ryan being present at the event will no doubt bring a lot of attention to the upcoming ADCC Orange County Open 2023, although the registration for the event had already reached it’s limit before this was announced. The recent slate of ADCC Opens have proved incredibly popular with competitors and it’s easy to see why, they offer regular opportunities for athletes to get practice in under the unique ruleset before the ADCC trials begin. For this particular tournament there’s an extra incentive involved though, as ADCC head organizer Mo Jassim recently announced cash prizes for the absolute divisions at the event.
Gordon Ryan announced the news that he was going to appear at the ADCC Orange County Open 2023 in a post to his official Instagram account:
