The IBJJF Absolute Grand Prix 2022 is fast-approaching and now the full lineup for both the eight-man bracket and the accompanying superfights has been confirmed. The event is scheduled to take place on November 18th and it will feature a tournament between eight of the best grapplers of varying weightclasses, all vying for the chance to take home the grand prize. The IBJJF Grand Prix events have been gaining more and more traction in recent years, with the last edition seeing Janaina Lebre winning the very first tournament in a women’s division.

As with any openweight tournament, the lineup of the IBJJF Absolute Grand Prix 2022 consists of primarily heavier athletes and the lightest competitor in the field is Francisco Lo, a medium-heavyweight. Alongside him will be several competitors from the 2022 ADCC world championships like Elder Cruz, Henrique Ceconi, under 99kg champion Kaynan Duarte, and the legendary veteran Roberto ‘Cyborg’ Abreu. In addition, ADCC South American trials winner Gutemberg Pereira will also be competing and he only missed out on his place at ADCC 2022 when he was struck with an unfortunate injury.

While any of these men could feasibly walk away with the victory in this bracket, there’s also plenty of tough opposition for them as well. Rider Zuchi has been in good form recently with a victory over Pedro Machado at BJJ Stars 9 and Gabriel Oliveira has put in some solid performances on the AJP Tour circuit, winning a silver medal at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour Rio earlier this year.
