BJJ Stars 9 took place on October 21st and the event featured an exciting Lightweight grand prix that was arranged in order to honour the memory of the legendary Leandro Lo. Alongside the tournament there was also a number of superfights arranged for the event that starred a number of ADCC 2022 veterans, along with two former world champions in Paulo Miyao and Beatriz ‘Bia’ Mesquita. In the end it was Matheus Gabriel who emerged victorious, starting out strong by registering the only submission win of the tournament over Wallison Oliveira in the opening round. He came up against Luiz Paulo in the semi-final and managed to beat him by a two-point margin before meeting Meyram Maquine in the final and registering the same score difference once again.
