Enigma Invitational 14 took place on February 26th, 2024 and the promotion put on a fantastic event with several fun superfights, followed by a middleweight grand prix with a $10,000 grand prize. The lineup for the tournament was fantastic, with several ADCC veterans and medalists from ADCC Trials competing in the bracket. No doubt a huge reason that such big names were willing to enter was huge amount of money on offer, as the prize was twice as much as Enigma Jiu-Jitsu have ever put on the line before. There was some top talent competing in the superfights as well though, particularly in the final one of the night where Keith Krikorian beat Reese LaFever on points.
New Wave Jiu-Jitsu dominated one half of the middleweight grand prix bracket, with Oliver Taza and Davis Asare both winning their first two matches in order to meet one another in the semi-final. This was actually a rematch from the ADCC European Trials semi-final just over a week ago, although at a higher weight class than their previous meeting. Taza got his revenge and beat Asare on points to book his place in the final, but the other side of the bracket at Enigma Invitational 14 was just as impressive as this one and he had a tough match ahead of him.
Two elite competitors made it through to the semi-final on the other side, with both of them having moved up in weight to compete at the event. Max Hanson and Jeremy Skinner had submitted one opponent each and beat the other on points, but in the end it was Hanson who emerged victorious and earned the right to meet Taza in the final. Hanson put in another fantastic performance and finished strong against Taza, scoring the only points of the match in order to take home the title and the $10,000 grand prize.
