The IBJJF Curitiba Pro Open 2023 took place on November 11th, 2023 and a number of elite gi grapplers decided to compete for the cash prizes on offer. Several weight classes played host to some fantastic matches, and the final of the heavyweight division was a battle between two top competitors. Vinicius Liberati and Hygor Brito met one another to compete for the top prize available in the weight class, and both men had to make it through a tough division in order to get there. It was Liberati who emerged victorious in that match, taking home the gold medal and the 6,400 Brazilian Real prize that went along with it.
The ultra-heavyweight division only featured three competitors, but each one of them wouldn’t have looked out of place on the top of the podium and there was a lot of attention on the bracket. Anderson Munis managed to win the division and take home the prize, beating Harryson Pereira in the final. Pereira left with a silver medal and 1,500 Brazilian Real, while Cleyton Flores had to settle for the bronze medal and no cash prize. There was a fair few female competitors at the IBJJF Curitiba Pro Open 2023 too, although only the absolute division had a cash prize on offer.
Amanda Magda managed to win the women’s absolute division, shortly after she got a default gold medal at heavyweight. She wasn’t the only top competitor battling for the prize money though, as Thaynara Dias won a bronze medal in the absolute after getting her default gold at super-heavyweight. There were matches in some of the regular weight classes though, as Thalyta Silva won a tough middleweight division and Sabatha Lais stood on top of the podium at medium-heavyweight. There were exciting matches all around at the event and the fans were treated to plenty of high level grappling action.
