SOGI Pro: Winter Warz took place on March 11th, 2023 and both of the top two fights delivered plenty of action for the fans, courtesy of Pat Shahgholi and Keith Krikorian. Before either of those took place though, Enrique Galarza won an eight-man middleweight tournament in incredibly impressive fashion. Galarza is a black belt under the legendary ‘Silver Fox’ Karel Pravec, and he managed to submit all three of his opponents in the tournament. It was a great performance by a solid grappler, and he’ll no doubt be given a much bigger opportunity during his next outing for the promotion.
There were several other great matches sprinkled throughout the card, but things really stepped up into high-gear when it came time for the co-main event. Keith Krikorian was facing Andrew Solano and he quickly got to work demonstrating the skills that have made him one of the top 10th Planet black belts around. He took Solano’s back pretty early on in their match and managed to sink in the rear-naked choke that forced his opponent to tap. He looks to be in fine form leading up to a huge opportunity he has in two week’s time, when he enters a four-man tournament for the Grapplefest lightweight title.
Immediately after that match, another young 10th Planet competitor emerged victorious too. Pat Shahgholi has been making waves for his performances as a teenager competing against adults recently and he was defending his heavyweight title against Alex Nemeth at SOGI Pro: Winter Warz. Neither man was able to get much going during the regulation period and the pair went to EBI overtime in order to decide a winner. Shahgholi managed to make several quick escapes one after the other, winning the match and retaining his title as a result of having the longest ride-time in EBI overtime.
