The ADCC Denver Open 2023 took place on May 13th, 2023 and the event featured a number of elite grapplers and even UFC veteran, Rose Namajunas, in it’s results. There were several notable names in the men’s divisions, including in the lightest division where Sebastian Oyervidez emerged victorious at 60kg. Deandre Corbe stood out with an impressive performance in the 70kg division too, as did Oliver Taza at 83kg and Matheus Lutes at 91kg.
The two heaviest divisions featured top competitors standing on top of the podium too, as Breylor Grout won gold at under 100kg and ADCC veteran John Hansen won the over 100kg division. There was a surprise winner in the men’s absolute division though, as Yeppie Tomasian managed to win a division that was stacked with almost every gold medallist. The rising star Helena Crevar had a fantastic performance in her proper weightclass, winning gold in the advanced juvenile division, but she also stepped up to adult and won gold there as well. She won the heaviest women’s division, and just underneath that Peyton Letcher stormed to victory while the lightest women’s division was won by Morgan Black.
Undoubtedly the most impressive podium of the tournament came from the women’s absolute division, where former UFC strawweight world champion Rose Namajunas was among those competing. While she’s been known as a skilled grappler during her UFC career, she wasn’t able to get the win here. She had to settle for taking home a bronze medal from the division, while Helena Crevar and Jasmine Rocha shared the final. Crevar won and added yet another gold medal from the event to her collection, reconfirming her place as one of the most talented young competitors on the planet.
