Rose Namajunas has just signed up to compete at the ADCC Denver Open on May 13th, 2023, alongside several other elite grapplers and MMA fighters. Each ADCC Open has attracted some fantastic competitors and this next edition is no different, as Namajunas is just one of many big names competing. As a two-time UFC world champion, she’s undoubtedly the most popular competitor at the event and a lot of eyes will be on her when she steps on the mat.
Namajunas doesn’t have any MMA fights booked at present, and is just coming off losing her strawweight title to Carla Esparza. She’s not just a UFC veteran either, as Namajunas is no stranger to professional grappling matches and has competed on Fury Pro Grappling before. She signed up for the women’s under 60kg division but she’ll have some tough competition, most notably from the young and talented Jasmine Rocha.
While the under 60kg division has Rose Namajunas competing, there are plenty of top competitors in other divisions at the ADCC Denver Open too. The under 65kg division has attracted ADCC trials winner Peyton Letcher and another exciting young talent in Helena Crevar. There’s another women’s MMA veteran at under 70kg too, as Invicta FC legend Pam Sorensen has signed up. Each of these women are also signed up for the absolute division, other than Crevar.
Deandre Corbe stands out in the men’s under 70kg division, while Derek Rayfield has signed up to compete at under 76kg. The under 83kg division is absolutely stacked with top competitors as William Tackett, John Combs, Oliver Taza, and Davis Asare are all making the trip to Denver to compete at that weight. The under 91kg division will feature both Miha Perhavec and Ryan Aitken, while John Hansen is competing at over 100kg. Several of these big names are in the hunt for two gold medals, as they’ve also signed up for the absolute division too.
