Enigma Invitational 15 is scheduled for April 28th, 2024 and Elijah Dorsey will be challenging Max Hanson for the promotion’s welterweight title in the main event. It’s a fantastic matchup that will no doubt deliver plenty of action for the fans watching and it’s a great opportunity for both men, but for very different reasons. Dorsey might be coming in as the challenger but he’s already established himself as one of the top no gi grapplers in the weight class. Hanson on the other hand is an exciting competitor that everyone has had their eye on in recent years, as he’s been steadily working his way up the rankings with some fantastic performances.
Dorsey actually won the biggest title of his career so far last year as he took home a gold medal at the ADCC North American East Coast Trials and booked his place at ADCC 2024. He had to win an incredible 7 matches over the course of the weekend in order to win the under 77kg division and he even took out two ADCC veterans along the way, Nicky Ryan and Oliver Taza. This was a massive win that confirmed Dorsey’s place among the best no gi grapplers in the world and he quickly followed it up with his first major gi title by winning the lightweight division of the IBJJF European Championship 2024.
Hanson claimed the Enigma welterweight title by winning a stacked tournament at Enigma Invitational 12, but he’s going to have his work cut out for him if he wants to keep the title after this event. It was actually just a few weeks before ADCC Trials that he achieved the feat, and he competed in the same division that Dorsey won at the event. Hanson made it all the way to the quarter-finals before losing to Taza, and he returned for another attempt at the ADCC North American West Coast Trials earlier this year. He made it further this time around but suffered the same fate in a rematch against Taza, finishing fourth in the division on his second attempt.
The title-fight between Elijah Dorsey and Max Hanson will serve as the main event of Enigma Invitational 15, but there’s going to be plenty of action before they step on the mats too. Even before any adults get the chance to compete, the promotion has booked some fun kids matches to kickstart the night. After that, Sam Micale will be facing Jerome Rivera, and there’s a really interesting battle between Willow Crawford and Lauren McAdam that will take place too. There’s a lot to look forward to at Enigma Invitational 15 and if the promotion’s past events are anything to go by then this one should be a hit.
