Craig Jones has just shared his latest comedic video to social media, where he walked straight into the FloGrappling headquarters and shattered a framed ADCC poster hanging on their wall. The poster is actually from ADCC 2022 and as an added layer to the joke, Jones points directly at the side of the poster that features his former teammate and current rival Gordon Ryan. It was actually the first edition of the world’s most prestigious no gi grappling tournament after Jones and Ryan parted ways, as the two men ended up in different sides of the overall breakup of the Danaher Death Squad.
Both of them competed at the event; with Jones winning a silver medal in the under 99kg division while Ryan won both the over 99kg and absolute divisions, along with the superfight title in the main event. Although the relationship between the two men had already broken down at this point, Jones still had a positive relationship with ADCC itself at the time. All that has changed in the years since though, and not only was he absent from the next edition but Jones actually created the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational to go head-to-head with ADCC 2024 on the very same weekend.
Now Jones is busy promoting and building the lineup for CJI 2, and this time he won’t have to face ADCC at all. The promotion is currently in an off-year where they focus on staging ADCC Trials only and prepare for the following year. It seems like Jones isn’t quite ready to let the rivalry die down though, as smashing the frame sends a clear message. It all happens in a matter of seconds and the employees working nearby appear to be pretty shocked by it, which also explains why footage emerged recently of him being escorted off the premises by security.
Taking everything at face value leads to the assumption that Craig Jones is continuing his one-man war against ADCC and FloGrappling, but some fans have a slightly different take on the events. Some believe that FloGrappling might actually be in on the whole thing, and have let Jones create the content in order to build more hype for the second Craig Jones Invitational. The only way that makes sense is if they get something out of it of course, and the prevailing fan theory is that CJI will not be broadcast for free on YouTube again and will instead be locked behind the FloGrappling paywall.
