BJJ Stars has wasted no time in setting up a fantastic start to 2021 as they’ve just revealed the full lineup for BJJ Stars 5 on February 6th, including an epic Heavyweight Grand Prix. The tournament will feature some of the best talent available in the heavier weightclasses like Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa, Felipe Pena, Nicholas Meregali, and Mahamed Aly. Making his return to the BJJ Stars mats after the disgraceful brawl that ensued at their first event, Erberth Santos is also competing in the tournament.
Footlock expert Luiz Panza will also be in the running for the title as he makes his first appearance since earning a silver medal at the IBJJF Pan-Ams last year. The rest of the field is filled out by two less-experienced competitors who will represent the dark horses of the Heavyweight Grand Prix. Both Gutemberg Pereira and Erich Munis have won the IBJJF World Championships on their journey through the colored belts, with Munis only being promoted to black belt last year.
As always with BJJ Stars events, the rest of the card is filled out with high-level superfights between World Champions and prodigies alike. Gustavo Batista will be taking on one of the most decorated grapplers in history in Leandro Lo alongside a rematch from the last BJJ Stars event, where Thamara Ferreira takes on Beatriz Mesquita. Last year’s “Breakthrough Grappler of The Year” Roberto Jimenez will be facing a stiff challenge from Isaque Bahiense, and the event is rounded out by Miltinho Vieira v Gabriel Rollo, Vitor Terra v Percio Broca, and Leon Amancio v Mario Reis.
BJJ Stars 5 will be available to watch on their website as a Pay-Per-View event, click here to find out more.
