The ADCC Mexico City Open 2024 took place on October 19th, 2024 and it attracted some of the best competitors from all around the country. There was plenty of great matches taking place in the men’s divisions, although unfortunately there were no advanced weight classes available for female BJJ competitors. This was the second year in a row that the promotion has staged an event in Mexico City and after the success of the 2023 edition, it was surprising to see that so few champions retained their titles. In fact, there was only one man who managed to win the same weight class two years in a row and he was also the only ADCC veteran in the lineup.
That man was Javier Zaruski, and he actually won both the over 100kg division and the absolute division this year. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the ATOS black belt finished with a perfect record of four submission wins in four matches in order to do so. Although there were no female competitors registered for any advanced weight classes, several of the intermediate grapplers stepped up to compete in the absolute at least. 10th Planet representative Jade Robledo was the women who came away with gold there after submitting Miryam Mendez in the final.
