The ADCC Long Beach Open 2024 took place on January 20th, 2024 and there were several ADCC veterans who featured in the results. It was a fantastic day for the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team, as they won both of the absolute divisions and several weight classes as well. Leading the charge for them was Dan Manasoiu, who won 7 matches and took home gold medals from the over 100kg division and the absolute. He actually shared the absolute podium with one of his teammates, as Abraham La Montagne took silver there after winning the under 91kg division. Dominic Mejia completed the gold medal haul for the male members of the team by winning 6 matches in a row to stand on top of the podium at under 70kg.
Helena Crevar was the only woman trained by John Danaher at the event and she put on a fantastic display across both the under 65kg division and the absolute. She won both and defeated some of the best grapplers on the planet along the way, beating ADCC veteran Peyton Letcher in the final of her weight class and the over 70kg champion Elizabeth Mitrovic in the final of the absolute. There were ADCC veterans in several divisions at the ADCC Long Beach Open 2024 though, with Andy Varela and Elder Cruz standing on top of the podium at under 83kg and under 100kg respectively. Among the most notable results in the women’s divisions, the under 60kg division was won by Amanda Bruse and Aislinn O’Connell won gold at under 70kg.
