Nate Diaz was recently seen rolling with famous YouTuber Salim the Dream, who is part of the NELK boys, where he almost immediately took his back and choked him out. The video was uploaded to the official YouTube channel for Fightful MMA and this isn’t anywhere near the first time that the younger Diaz brother has been spotted grappling with celebrities. He was recently seen grappling with the CEO for Strength Cartel “Big Boy” who weighs over 300lbs and frequently posts videos showing off his phenomenal strength. It’s safe to say that he would’ve been at least a little bit more of a challenge than Salim the Dream, who is relatively average-sized by comparison.
Nate Diaz has had the opportunity to take on bigger matches than the occasional YouTuber as he was recently called out by fellow UFC veteran Gilbert Burns, who was eager to book a grappling match against the Stockton native at a recent Submission Underground event. Of course, the injury risk when Diaz is taking on an untrained celebrity in a friendly setting is incredibly low compared to tangling with one of the most feared grapplers in the UFC inside the SUG cage.
It’s fair enough for Diaz to be avoiding any unnecessary risk as he has been planning out his return fight to the UFC after losing the BMF title opportunity against Jorge Masvidal for quite some time. Now his comeback fight is fully booked and he will actually be making history by taking part in the first non-title and non-main event fight that is scheduled to be contested over five rounds. He will be taking on Leon Edwards in the fight that will serve as the co-main event at UFC 262 on May 15th and could signal the start of even more five-round fights than ever before.
