Justin Gaethje is one of the top lightweight MMA fighters on the planet, but he was apparently recently submitted by a security guard in a friendly grappling exchange. According to the video itself, the security guard works for popular YouTube content creators; the NELK Boys. There’s no background given to the video and it starts while the scuffle is already ongoing, but it’s pretty obvious that there’s no ill intent from either man as Gaethje is clearly smiling when his face can be seen.
While it might seem like an unusual collaboration at first, the group of influencers have long been associated with Dana White and were actually one of many celebrities in attendance for UFC 294 as well. This wouldn’t be the first time that they’ve decided to get more physically involved with grappling and MMA either, as one of their members ‘Salim the Dream’ was previously choked out by Nate Diaz. This incident doesn’t appear to be anywhere near as organized as that though, and judging from the footage it appears to be an impromptu interaction.
Although Gaethje is known as more of a striker in his MMA career, he’s still a fantastic grappler with an extensive wrestling background as an NCAA Division I All-American. Naturally it’s a bit of a surprise to see Justin Gaethje getting submitted by a security guard, but it’s worth noting that there’s a pretty clear size difference between the two and he obviously isn’t putting in full effort either. It makes sense too, as Gaethje still has a very lucrative career as a professional MMA fighter to think about and he isn’t going to risk taking any damage for the sake of a fun video on social media.
Ben Davis uploaded the footage of Justin Gaethje getting in a friendly grappling exchange with the NELK Boys’ security guard and getting submitted with a kimura in a recent post to his official Twitter account:
