Fight 2 Win 153 brought another night of elite grappling action to Texas and the results speak for themselves. The promotion has managed to breathe life into the American professional grappling scene after a period of struggle thanks to Coronavirus restrictions. In the last 4 months they’ve held 13 shows and featured some huge names like Romulo Barral, Rafael Lovato Jr and Edwin Najmi. This latest event showed no drop in the quality of competitors as it was headlined by a matchup between the up-and-coming Samuel Nagai and one of the leaders of the Berimbolo generation, Gianni Grippo.

Grippo pulled guard immediately and started working for a grip on the pants as Nagai secured a straight-ankle lock grip and sat back to finish. While Grippo defended well and managed to free his foot, Nagai still held grips to prevent him from passing as he stood to his feet. Nagai stood up briefly but decided to return to playing guard and although he managed to sweep Grippo briefly, he again returned to fighting off his back. The match only had a few minutes left at this point so Grippo sat back for a straight-ankle lock and although Nagai freed his foot almost immediately, Grippo switched to a Toehold to try and finish the match.

As Nagai defended, Grippo came up on top before attempting a Belly-down ankle lock which Nagai countered with one of his own. Grippo defended well again and as the last few seconds ticked away, Nagai managed one final attempt at a straight-ankle lock which Grippo was unable to counter. The buzzer sounded and ended the match, with the referees awarding Nagai the victory by Decision.
