Third Coast Grappling 5 is set to be one of the last events of the year as it’s set for the weekend before Christmas, and will be topped by a gi match between two top talents. Mikey Musumeci is one of the leading figures of the modern generation of gi competitors and has dominated the lighter weightclasses for some time. Not only is he a three-time IBJJF World Champion, but Musumeci has also overcome some big names in the absolute division despite regularly competing at 57kg. Macedo is no slouch either and has most recently won gold at the Pan-Ams after Musumeci opted not to compete, choosing to focus on developing upcoming instructionals instead.
The Co-Main event then sees William Tackett coming in fresh off his fantastic performance at Subversiv 4 where he helped his team reach second place. He will take on a big leap in competition however as he faces Fellipe Andrew, a fan favorite at Third Coast Grappling who had a solid display as part of the sixth Kumite event. He took home the biggest prize at the Pan-Ams recently by winning the absolute division and will no doubt present an incredibly tough test for Tackett to overcome.
Third Coast Grappling 5 also features a high-level no gi match between ADCC 2019 West Coast Trials winner John Combs and the man who’s won back-to-back no gi World Championships at purple belt and brown belt, Pedro Marinho. A few other matches have also been announced for the card like Jordan Holy v Ruben Rivera, Adam Bradley v Bruno Matias, and Alana Holy v Jennifer Rivera, with many more to come soon.
