Third Coast Grappling Kumite 6 delivered a night of great fights as the promotion’s final all-male $10,000 tournament took place. The seventh Kumite event is scheduled to feature eight of the best female grapplers available and marks the first in the series to do so. This tournament featured some last-minute changes to the lineup after some injuries took place, which is what led to the introduction of Guilherme Augusto, Arnaldo Maidana and Arian De Melo. These three grapplers replaced Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa, Gustavo Batista and Ricardo Evangelista, for a variety of reasons and shortly after the original brackets were released.

One of the most impressive performances came in the superfight from Osvaldo “Quiexinho” Moizinho, who had only just fought less than 24 hours before in the main event matchup of Fight 2 Win 151. He managed to right the ship quickly by defeating Johnny Tama via decision despite being on the losing end of the judge’s opinions the night before. In the tournament itself, both of Roberto Jimenez stormed to the finals by submitting both of his opponents in impressive fashion before coming up against Victor Hugo in a battle between two of the sport’s biggest new names.

His finish of Gabriel Almeida in the semi-finals was particularly impressive as both competitors secured an Ankle Lock and raced to the tap, with Jimenez managing to go belly-down before his opponent and get the finish. In the final against Hugo, the two men were incredibly evenly matched and although Hugo had some early submission attempts that forced Jimenez on the back foot. When he got his first chance, Jimenez was aggressive in attack by hunting for a Toehold from 50/50 to try and get his third straight finish. Hugo defended expertly though and after a brief stalemate, he managed to lock up a Toehold of his own and get the tap to win the $10,000 prize.
