The upcoming Who’s Number One event will feature a very special matchup that serves as a reminder that the future is bright for competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as Andrew Tackett faces off with Mica Galvao. Andrew Tackett is the younger brother of fellow up-and-coming prospect William Tackett, who has made a name for himself in the last year or two by taking on some elite veterans on big stages. Now it looks like Andrew is eager to follow in his brother’s footsteps with his latest fight announcement for Who’s Number One, one of the premier grappling organizations around right now.
Both brothers represent Brazilian Fight Factory in Texas, training alongside Kody Steele and under Rodrigo Cabral. William Tackett will be taking on Mica Galvao, who fights out of Dream Art in Manaus, Brazil, alongside the three Munis brothers and was recently promoted to brown belt by his father, Melqui Galvao. He comes from a talented family, as Melqui is well-regarded across Brazil as a fantastic BJJ coach and has had a hand in developing a lot of young, talented grapplers in recent years like Thalison Soares and Fabricio Andrey.
This match between Andrew Tackett and Mica Galvao will serve as an undercard match on an event headlined by Gordon Ryan and Luiz Panza. While it’ll definitely be an exciting match in the build-up towards the main event, it’s entirely likely that this could be the start to a series of matches between two grapplers who have a great chance of being at the tope of the game for the next decade or more.
