Submission Underground 18 has just had it’s full lineup announced and the headline match pits Vinny Magalhaes against the man who beat Craig Jones in their seventeenth event, Mason Fowler. The rest of the card features a number of other high-profile matches including a fantastic Co-main event between two great female grapplers, Leah Taylor and IBJJF no gi World Champion Kendall Reusing. The rest of the main card is filled out by two members of Texas’ Brazilian Fight Factory team, Kody Steele and William Tackett, who will be competing against Bryan Nuro and Gabriel Checco respectively.
The final matchup on the main card is between an experienced MMA fighter in Rafael Domingos, and ADCC veteran Keith Krikorian. The preliminary card features another five matches between experienced grapplers including several notable highlights like Pierre-Olivier Leclerc taking on Andy Varela, and Hunter Colvin facing off against Emil Fischer. Of course, the event is still several weeks away on October 4th which means that the full card is of course subject to potential changes, as with any combat sports event.
One notable exception from the card is Craig Jones, who recently publicly announced that he may be done with competing on Submission Underground events due to their comparatively short regulation time period before having EBI overtime rules. Interestingly, Jones will be competing on a different card on the very same weekend as Submission Underground 18, FloGrappling’s Who’s Number One event on October 2nd, against Roberto Jimenez.
The full event will be streamed live on 4th October on UFC FightPass, click here to subscribe and watch.
